Ribbon Cutting Program

Brian Baker, Executive Director of UMW’s Center for Economic Development, kicked off the event recognizing Matern’s mission to serve the workforce and provide workforce development. Then, he highlighted Ginni Matern’s role of, “sponsor, speaker, and service” in the community. He also recalled the special opportunity he’s had to work with all three generations of Matern Staffing women – Ann, Cindy, and Ginni. Next, Kevin Marshall of Spotsylvania Economic Development thanked Ginni and Matern Staffing for their economic contribution that supports local warehouse and distribution projects.

Then, Thomas Marshall, HR Director of Onduline North America, praised Ginni and her team for the exceptional service they provide when fulfilling staffing solutions. Mr. Marshall stated, “They add a personal touch that is unmatched from what I’ve seen.” Then, Ginni Matern, thanked her team, family, friends and clients for their support. She also briefly mentioned the amazing story that resulted in her taking over the family business in 2015. Finally, she cut the red ribbon with her daughter and team by her side.

Adding Local Style to the Office Space

After the ribbon cutting, guests toured the new office location which feels palatial compared to the former space. The new space features a beautiful lobby, collaborative recruitment space, confidential interview areas, and a large conference seating area. SmithWorx and Webb Smith Interiors worked diligently to incorporate a modern look and inviting feeling into the renovation.

Throughout the office, you’ll find handcrafted reminders of the industries, materials, and local businesses that are dear to Matern Staffing. For example, long-time client Onduline North America installed locally manufactured paneling in the lobby. And, Fraser Wood Elements crafted beautiful planter boxes, a wooden mirror, and an American flag in the lobby. Finally, a ribbon cutting wouldn’t be complete without fun swag, food, and drinks. Throughout the evening, guests enjoyed delicious food prepared by Michelle’s Table and drinks poured by Anker Mobile Bartending. The evening ended with a heartfelt thank you from Ginni to her staff, emphasizing the great work they do connecting with job seekers and businesses to better the community.

Thank you to everyone who attended!
