Matern Staffing is hiring a Scrap Machine Operator (job order 4187) for a cable manufacturing facility in Culpeper, VA. The Scrap Machine Operator operates and monitors equipment used to process scrap material and prepares reels for continued production.
As a Scrap Machine Operator, your reliability, attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and commitment to safety help keep the production process running efficiently. This position offers the opportunity to transition to a full-time Production Operator position for employees who demonstrate strong attendance and productivity.
Salary:
- $18/hr
Schedule:
- Training will be on first shift Monday–Friday, 7:50am–4:00pm. Once trained, positions will be available on first, second, and third shifts:
- 1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:50am–4:00pm
- 2nd Shift: Monday–Friday, 3:50pm–12:00am
- 3rd Shift: Sunday–Thursday, 9:50pm–6:00am
What You’ll Do:
- Use a hoist to load scrap reels onto the scrap processing machine
- Tie scrap material into the designated scrap reel
- Start, operate, and monitor the scrap processing machine
- Monitor the reel and machine throughout the process
- Repeat the process efficiently while maintaining safe operating practices
What You’ll Need:
- Manufacturing or production experience, preferred
- Previous forklift experience, preferred
- Comfortable learning to operate industrial machinery
- Mechanically inclined with strong attention to detail
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain a consistent production process
- Dependable with strong attendance and punctuality
- Commitment to safety and productivity
