Matern Staffing is hiring a Paint Technician (job id 3609) for a manufacturing facility in Fredericksburg, VA. This is a contract-to-hire, entry-level position with first shift hours.
As a Paint Technician you’ll use your skills to prepare and finish parts, including spraying primer, wiping stains, masking, sanding, and maintaining paint equipment. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills in a hands-on environment with a company focused on quality craftsmanship and continuous improvement.
Salary:
- $18/hr
Schedule:
- Monday-Friday, 6am-2:30pm
What You’ll Do as a Paint Technician:
- Prepare and clean spray equipment before and after use
- Apply primer, stains, and finishes using various spray systems (HVLP, air-assisted airless, pressure pots, cup guns)
- Perform surface prep including sanding, masking, puttying, and spackling
- Maintain paint inventory, complete order sheets, and clean spray guns daily
- Follow safety procedures, including respirator use
- Collaborate with team to meet quality and production goals
- Keep work area organized, safe, and clean
What You’ll Need as a Paint Technician:
- 1 year of commercial or industrial paint preparation experience, with 6+ months of spray painting experience preferred
- Ability to pass internal training program within prescribed time frames
- Ability to wear a respirator and follow safety protocols
- Familiarity with MSDS sheets and ability to follow safety procedures
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and quality workmanship
- Willingness to learn and contribute to continuous improvement
