Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift

Matern Staffing is hiring a Maintenance Technician 2nd Shift for a fire-retardant treated wood plant in Bowling Green, VA, where you’ll help shape a culture of safety and environmental responsibility that supports the building industry.

When important equipment stops working the Maintenance Technician becomes the hero! As a Maintenance Technician you’ll use your problem solving and knowledge of mechanical and electrical workings to detect, troubleshoot, support, and fix machines and equipment. 

This is a contract-to-hire position with 2nd shift hours 4pm-2:30am, Monday thru Friday.

Salary:

• $27-$30/hr

Schedule:

• 2nd shift 4pm-2:30am, Monday thru Friday with flexibility depending on production schedules

What You’ll Do as a Maintenance Technician 2nd shift:

• Maintain and repair chemical transfer pumps, vacuum pumps, valves, conveyors, hydraulic units, burners, mobile equipment, to ensure reliable operation
• Maintain and repair electrical systems, including breaker boxes, power supplies, sensors, PLCs, and lighting, to ensure reliable operation
• Completes cutting, grinding and welding activities
• Completes work orders for issues with equipment
• Promptly responds to equipment and machine issues to minimize operational downtime
• Maintains and follows preventative maintenance programs with accurate record keeping
• Installs new equipment including running new electrical wire and/or piping as directed
• Collaborates with teammates to resolve equipment challenges and shares experiences through training

What You’ll Need:

• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required
• Previous experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance required (2 years preferred)
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
• Proactively approaches situations with excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Strong mathematical skills to help with quick and accurate calculations
• Strong computer skills (Google Drive, MS Office, word processing, email and spreadsheets)
• Strong attention to detail with great follow-through to ensure accuracy and execution
• Active listener who collaborates effectively with teammates, always ready to step in to help
• Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs+ and perform necessary physically demanding tasks as needed
