Matern Staffing is seeking a detail-driven Associate Production Planner to support a growing defense technology company in Stafford, VA.
The Associate Production Planner supports the planning, scheduling, and coordination of manufacturing activities to ensure materials, resources, and production orders align with customer demand and operational objectives. This role partners closely with Procurement, Inventory Control, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to maintain production readiness, support schedule execution, and help ensure products are delivered on time and specification.
This is direct hire opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working across departments, analyzing production data, and helping drive manufacturing efficiency within a growing defense technology environment
U.S. citizenship and proximity within 45-minutes of the office is required due to client/government contract requirements. Occasional travel (up to 10% of time) is required.

What You’ll Do:
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, and manufacturing capacity
- Monitor production progress and work order status to support on-time completion and schedule attainment
- Review material availability and coordinate with internal teams to resolve shortages and minimize production disruptions
- Create, release, and maintain manufacturing work orders within the ERP system
- Ensure materials, work orders, and planning data are accurate and available prior to production
- Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing information, and other planning records as needed
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Inventory Control, and Quality teams to resolve production and scheduling issues
- Generate and analyze production, inventory, and planning reports to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in place of a degree
- 0-2 years of experience production planning, scheduling, manufacturing operations or related field (internship or co-op experience is a plus)
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems
- Previous leadership or team lead experience in a manufacturing environment
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas and the ability to analyze production, inventory and operation data
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
- Proficiency with SharePoint and MS Office 365
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed to support production, engineering or quality teams
- U.S. citizenship is required due to client/government contract requirements
