Matern Staffing is hiring a Construction Estimator (job id #2877) for a specialty residential construction firm in Stafford, Va. The Construction Estimator collaborates with the Project Estimator to gather and analyze material and labor costs to estimate project costs.
It can be challenging to analyze materials, schedules, and vendors, but completing a project and seeing the client’s smile makes it all worth it. This is a contract-to-hire position requiring sharp problem-solving and blueprint reading skills.
Salary:
- $22.50/hr
What You’ll Do:
What You’ll Do:- Reviews project specifications and blueprints
- Assists the Project Estimator to review project specifications and establish pricing guidelines
- Meets and collaborates with clients, engineers, and other staff to understand the projects
- Drafts cost estimates for projects based on building material/labor analysis and research and distributes reports to engineers, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders
- Drafts project completion timelines
What You’ll Need:
- Previous construction familiarity preferred
- Ability to read blueprints is preferred
- Enjoy learning how things work and have a curiosity for brainstorming process improvements and finding/implementing solutions
- Exceptional verbal, written and communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and customers
- Strong attention to detail with great follow-through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness
- Positive self-starter with a proactive approach, excellent time management, and prioritization skills
- Strong computer skills in MS Office and QuickBooks to ensure accurate and efficient record keeping
