Matern Staffing is seeking a proactive and detail-driven Procurement Manager (job order 3952) to support a leading defense technology company in Stafford, VA. This individual will drive sourcing strategy, strengthen supplier performance, and ensure full alignment with U.S. defense procurement standards. As a Procurement Manager, you’ll use your strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills to optimize supplier relationships, support mission-critical programs, and ensure reliable, cost-effective procurement across development and production initiatives.
Salary:
$95,000-$105,000/yr

What You’ll Do:
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers while negotiating pricing, terms, and long-term agreements to ensure reliable, cost-effective supply and strong strategic partnerships
Procurement Operations
- Manage the full procurement lifecycle for build-to-print and build-to-spec components, partnering with engineering, quality, and finance to meet schedules, budgets, and supplier performance standards
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with ITAR, FAR/DFARS, and other U.S. government regulations, maintain accurate and audit-ready records, and support internal and external audits
Process Improvement
- Evaluate and improve procurement workflows to increase efficiency, reduce costs, mitigate risks, and strengthen overall supply chain resiliency
Transition from Development to Production
- Lead procurement planning and execution for new product introduction and full-rate production, ensuring sourcing strategies support manufacturability, cost targets, and long-term production requirements
Basic Engineering Skills
- Interpret engineering drawings, PCBA schematics, BOMs, and technical documents, collaborating with engineering teams to support sourcing decisions and meet technical requirements.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
- 5-8 years of procurement experience in defense or aerospace, with build-to-print or build-to-spec programs
- Strong knowledge of U.S. government procurement regulations and compliance standards
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Preferred: CPSM, CPIM, or related certification
- Preferred: Experience with international sourcing and export control regulations
- Preferred: Demonstrated success in supplier development and cost-saving initiatives
