Matern Staffing is now accepting resumes for a Clean Energy Intern for Summer 2026. This is a paid summer internship running from approximately mid-May to mid-August with a public utility company in Fredericksburg, VA.
As a Clean Energy Intern, you’ll play a key role in advancing innovative energy solutions that make a meaningful impact across Virginia. Working alongside the Energy Solutions and Clean Energy team, you’ll help develop future clean energy programs for residential, small commercial, and industrial members. From supporting electric transportation and energy efficiency initiatives to researching and presenting new ideas for solar and grid solutions, your work will help shape the direction of sustainable energy for more than 184,000 members in 22 counties.
Salary:
- $15-$20/hr
Schedule:
- 30 hours/week, Hybrid schedule, with occasional travel to Fredericksburg office
What You’ll Do as an Intern:
- Assist the Energy Solutions Team in electric transportation, energy efficiency, demand response and residential solar programs
- Research and analyze new initiatives related to clean energy solutions
- Research and present grid innovative solutions
- Create reports and documents to communicate technical findings for teammates, managers and public stakeholders to easily understand
What You’ll Need as an Intern:
- Current undergraduate students who are rising college juniors or seniors studying energy, business, economics, renewables, sustainability, environmental science, or STEAM fields, or other relevant fields (3.0 GPA and above)
- Previous experience with spreadsheets, presentations, word processing documents, and databases
- Analytical and research skills
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Positive self-starter with a proactive approach, excellent time management, and prioritization skills
- Active listener who collaborates effectively with teammates, always ready to step in to help
- Ability to pass background check, credit check and drug screen
