Matern Staffing is now accepting resumes for a Clean Energy Intern for Summer 2025. This is a paid summer internship running from approximately mid-May to mid-August with a public utility company in Fredericksburg, VA.
As a Clean Energy Intern, you’ll play a key role in advancing innovative energy solutions that make a meaningful impact across Virginia. Working alongside the Energy Solutions and Clean Energy team, you’ll help develop future clean energy programs for residential, small commercial, and industrial members. From supporting electric transportation and energy efficiency initiatives to researching and presenting new ideas for demand response and residential solar, your work will help shape the direction of sustainable energy for more than 180,000 members in 22 counties.
Salary
- $15-$20/hr
Schedule:
- 30 hours/week, Hybrid schedule, with travel to Fredericksburg office and nearby locations
What You’ll Do as an Intern:
- Assist the Energy Solutions Team in electric transportation, energy efficiency, demand response and residential solar programs
- Research and analyze innovative initiatives related to clean energy solutions
- Perform research through quantitative and qualitative means (interviews, focus groups, surveys, questionnaires, observation, document/site reviews, etc)
- Accurately and efficiently manage files and data
- Create reports and documents to communicate technical findings for teammates, managers and public stakeholders to easily understand
What You’ll Need as an Intern:
- Current undergraduate students who are rising college juniors or seniors studying energy, business, economics, renewables, sustainability, environmental science, or STEAM fields, or other relevant fields (3.0 GPA and above)
- Basic computer skills with experience in programs such as MS Office products
- Exceptional verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals across all levels of an organization
- Positive self-starter with a proactive approach, excellent time management, and prioritization skills
- Excellent analytical and research skills
- Active listener who collaborates effectively with teammates, always ready to step in to help
- Ability to pass background check, credit check and drug screen
