Matern Staffing is hiring a Batch Plant Assistant (job order 3892) for a concrete manufacturer in King George, VA. As a Batch Plant Assistant, you’ll work closely with the Batch Plant Operator to manage raw materials, maintain mixers, and ensure consistent, high-quality concrete production. Your work will directly support the creation of durable infrastructure that communities rely on every day.
This role is ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude who is willing to learn, comfortable working overtime, and eager to grow within a manufacturing environment. Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Salary:
- $20-$23/hr
Schedule:
- Monday–Friday, 7:00–8:00am, with shifts typically ending between 7:00–8:00pm (overtime as needed)
What You’ll Do as a Batch Assistant:
- Support daily batching operations by assisting operators with material handling and production tasks
- Produce wood chips and prepare materials to support manufacturing and production needs
- Clean and maintain mixers, hoppers, conveyors, pits, and other batch plant equipment
- Assist with equipment upkeep and minor maintenance projects, including replacing parts and mixer components
- Follow all company safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols, and promptly report hazards or unsafe conditions
- Support end-of-shift cleanup, plant housekeeping, and occasional evening or Saturday maintenance activities as needed
What You’ll Need as a Batch Assistant:
- Previous experience in concrete manufacturing, construction, or a similar industrial environment is strongly encouraged
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn new skills and safely operate loaders, skid steers, and other production equipment after training
- Strong work ethic, reliability and attendance
- Physical stamina for demanding work, including standing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and operating equipment
- Reliability, adaptability, and communication skills
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are preferred
