Machine Operator

Matern Staffing is hiring a Machine Operator for a tile manufacturing facility in Doswell, VA. As a Machine Operator, you’ll play a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of production equipment. This role is ideal for someone who possesses mechanical acuity combined with mathematical understanding and hands-on production experience. 

Salary: 

• Starting at $18/hr 

Schedule: 

• Full-time, Monday–Friday; overtime and weekend availability as needed 

What You’ll Do as a Machine Operator: 

• Set up, operate, and monitor machinery to meet production goals and quality standards 
• Perform in-process quality checks using calipers, tape measures, and gauges 
• Use basic math to calculate tolerances, part dimensions, and material usage 
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and escalate more complex problems when necessary 
• Load/unload raw materials and finished products 
• Follow SOPs, work orders, and blueprints to maintain accuracy and consistency 
• Communicate production needs or delays to supervisors and team leads 
• Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently 

What You’ll Need as a Machine Operator: 

• 2+ years of experience operating machinery in a production or manufacturing setting 
• Mechanical aptitude with strong math and troubleshooting skills 
• Experience using precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, gauges) 
• Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain) 
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods 
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery 
• Commitment to safety protocols and a strong work ethic 
• Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed
