Matern Staffing is hiring an IT/AV Specialist to join a local university. As the IT/AV Specialist, you’ll play a key role in supporting students, faculty, and staff through expert hardware, software, and audiovisual support. As an IT/AV Specialist, you’ll ensure classrooms, labs, and public computing spaces are fully operational and equipped with reliable technology—helping drive a better teaching and learning experience.
Salary:
- $18/hr
Schedule:
- Monday thru Friday, 8am-5pm
What You’ll Do:
- Provide technical support for desktops, laptops (PC & Mac), printers, mobile devices, and software
- Configure hardware, install software, and connect devices to wired and wireless networks
- Support classroom, lab, and public computing systems across UMW campuses
- Develop and maintain standard computer images for setup and repairs
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues in-person, over the phone, or remotely
- Assist with AV system support and serve as backup to the AV Systems Manager
- Partner with ITSS leadership to assign, track, and improve service workflows
- Occasionally work outside regular hours to support special projects or urgent needs
What You’ll Need:
- Strong experience troubleshooting and supporting a variety of hardware, software, and peripherals
- Proficiency with Windows and Mac operating systems
- Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and networking basics
- Experience imaging and deploying computers at scale
- Ability to support AV systems in classroom environments
- A+ or other relevant certifications (e.g., Network+, Dell, Apple, Crestron) preferred
- Strong communication and customer service skills with a team-oriented mindset
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in any field
