As a Financial Analyst you’ll support the Finance and Administration Director with budgeting, forecasting financial results, and budget variance reporting. Accurately and effectively managing budgets and cost of services can be tedious but being part of a team strengthening the local community makes it all worth it. 

Matern Staffing is hiring a Financial Analyst for a non-profit organization in Downtown Fredericksburg, VA. You’ll be a trusted, proactive partner among internal staff and agencies as you effectively communicate, maintain confidentiality, analyze budgets, and promote best financial practices.  

This is a contract-to-hire opening.

Starting Salary: $57,000

What You’ll Do: 

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to prepare annual operating budget and performance contract 
  • Submits annual budget to local governments 
  • Analyzes and updates operating budget and mid-year performance contract 
  • Analyzes, reports, and completes federal and regional fund balance reports 
  • Prepares comparison report of budget to actuals 
  • Determines cost of services for programs and rate negotiations using cost accounting techniques 
  • Build operational knowledge and expertise about agency’s programs to effectively prepare and analyze financial data 

What You’ll Need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or financial field and at least 3 years’ relevant experience 
  • Thorough knowledge of budget, fiscal and accounting management theories, principles and best practices 
  • Knowledge of cost accounting and cost allocation principles and techniques. 
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel), and automated report writing programs (such as Crystal Reports) 
  • Strong attention to detail with great follow-through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness 
  • Enjoys evaluating statistical and financial data for preparing complex reports 
  • Exceptional verbal and written skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with teammates and external agencies
