Matern Staffing is currently recruiting a Fleet Shop Assistant (job order #3719) for a public utility company with operations throughout the region. In this role, you will support technicians and administrative staff while helping maintain a safe, organized, and productive shop environment.
Key responsibilities include assisting with daily operational tasks, maintaining the company’s fleet, managing inventory, and supporting administrative duties such as closing out work orders. This position requires reliability, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and a well-maintained, efficient workspace.
Schedule:
7am – 4pm
Salary:
$18 – $21
What You’ll Do: 
- Support technicians with shop operations and the company’s fleet
- Maintain organized, clean work areas and track tools, parts, and inventory
- Receive, label, stock, and deliver materials as needed
- Assist with administrative tasks, including work orders, filing, and data entry
- Travel between locations as needed and follow all safety procedures
What You’ll Need:
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Experience in shop, warehouse, fleet, or industrial environment
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort with computers
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate hand tools
- Valid driver’s license; ASE Certification a plus
