Warehouse Worker – Entry Level

Matern Staffing is hiring a Warehouse Worker (job id #2757) at a national building materials supplier in their Charlottesville, Va location. Drive machines, transport materials, and support the country’s economic growth! As a Warehouse Worker you’ll use your dependability, willingness to learn, and strong attention to detail to efficiently move the materials, ensuring they’re reading for shipping.

This is a day shift position with hours 7am-3:30pm. You’ll be working inside the warehouse or outside in the yard area in all weather conditions. Experience is a plus, but not required – our client provides training and certification. 

Salary:

• $15/hr with potential increase to $18/hr after 30 days

First Shift Schedule:

• 7am-3:30pm

What You’ll Do as Forklift Driver:

• Physically handles materials used to construct components and finished products to ensure movement of such items is optimized; lifts, carries, stacks items as needed
• Operates motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment, some of which may require specialized training
• Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trucks or customer vehicles
• Responds attentively to training from foreman or more senior handlers in order to increase own knowledge of work processes
• Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.

• Dependability and a willingness to learn
• Forklift experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail with great follow-through to ensure safety, accuracy and comprehensiveness
• Proactively approaches situations with punctuality, excellent time management, and prioritization skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals across all levels of an organization
• Ability to withstand all weather conditions and lift heavy lumber loads up to 80lbs
