Matern Staffing is hiring a Facilities Lead for an apparel distribution center in Ashland, VA. In this role, you’ll take charge of planning and coordinating workflows to keep essential building and material handling equipment running smoothly. Your leadership ensures that maintenance operations are efficient, proactive, and aligned with safety and performance standards.
As the Facilities Lead, you’ll oversee the maintenance team, ensuring equipment reliability and workplace safety while identifying ways to optimize operations. Your expertise in AutoStore systems, conveyor systems, and material handling equipment will be crucial in maintaining a high-functioning distribution center.
Salary:
$58,000-$79,000/yr + $3k Sign-on Bonus
Schedule:
- 1st shift: 6am-2:30pm
- 2nd shift: 2:30-11:30pm
- 3rd shift: 11pm-7:30am
- Monday thru Friday

What You’ll Do:
- Plan and coordinate a daily preventive maintenance program for all material handling equipment, including AutoStore systems
- Ensure efficient operation of AutoStore robots and grid systems
- Delegate tasks and supervise the maintenance team to ensure efficient workflows
- Collaborate with vendors for technical support, spare parts procurement, and system troubleshooting
- Perform routine inspections and troubleshooting to maintain reliable operation of equipment
- Lead safety training initiatives and enforce a strong safety culture
- Maintain a spare parts inventory to ensure quick replacement of critical components
- Generate reports on equipment performance and maintenance activities for management
- Provide process improvement recommendations to increase efficiency and business goals
What You’ll Need:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- At least 4 years of experience in conveyor maintenance and repairs
- At least one year of experience in operating powered lift equipment
- Proactively approaches situations with excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Strong attention to detail with great follow-through to ensure accuracy and execution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead and develops teams with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
- Active listener who collaborates effectively with teammates, always ready to step in to help
- Ability to lift/carry up to 60 lbs and perform necessary physically demanding tasks as needed
- Ability to work in cold and hot climates
- Ability to pass drug screening and background checks
